Heartbleed Vulnerability

A new security vulnerability, known as the Heartbleed bug or (CVE-2014-0160) has been released which poses severe implications for the entire Web. This exploit allows remote users to access memory on the system where the vulnerability exists.

What does this mean for eXcerta Network Services Inc.?

eXcerta has conducted an in depth investigation into all internal services and outward facing services within our infrastructure and have confirmed to be clear of this security vulnerability. All of the eXcerta core infrastructure components are NOT vulnerable.

What does this mean for our clients?

This vulnerability is wide spread across the world and likely affects most directly or indirectly via services you may use. Any service or product which incorporates a version of the OpenSSL package affected by the vulnerability is likely to be affected. This can include, but is not limited to, Unix based operating systems (including Solaris, Linux, Mac OSX) and other products including firewall VPNs.

For any suspected services it is recommended to check with the appropriate vendor support for more information regarding their affected products and solutions. Most vendors have already initiated investigations into their product lineup and are offering solutions.
